Fenty Beauty has been taking the cosmetics world by storm since its debut last September. As the first anniversary of the brand quickly approaches, it is impressive to see the momentum and traction Rihanna’s labor of love has gained ( and it’s not slowing down anytime soon ).
When Fenty was launched, it offered a whopping forty shades of foundation with its Pro Filt’R foundation collection, including a wide variety of darker shades. Never before in the history of product launch had a brand come out of the box with so many diverse shades in regards to both a new line and collection. Rihanna promised the brand would be completely inclusive, and so far, she has lived up to that promise as the brand truly does have a shade or product for every skin tone. Fenty successfully bridged the long-running gap in the industry in regards to offerings for persons of color.
Rihanna is known for her trend-setting looks, fashion and attitude and is a queen of glow. To learn how you can get Rihanna’s signature highlight look, read on.
Priming is a must
Start with Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’R Instant Retouch Primer in Soft Matte before applying your foundation. This formula was created to work with all skintypes and it is absolutely amazing. The best way to a seamless makeup application is with a good primer. This also reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines and reduces any unwanted shine.
Next, add foundation
You can use any foundation you like, but I definitely recommend using Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in a shade you’re comfortable with. Be sure to blend it down the neck so there’s no lines and so it looks more seamless.
Start with cream highlighters
I would definitely recommend using the Match Stix Shimmer Stick for this ( I love the shade Starstruck ). You’ll want to brighten the eye area ( on the lids and the outer corners ), between the brows and chin. To do a full contour look, use the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio in Medium. Use the lighter shades to brighten and the darker one for contour. If you already have a beauty sponge or a stipple brush, then that’s perfect for blending. If you’re in the market for one, I definitely suggest Fenty Beauty Portable Contour Brush. It’s the perfect density for blending these beautiful creams and highlighters, plus it’s very chic and can fit right down in your purse. Easy.
Amp it up with Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighter
Use a brush or a makeup sponge with a bit of foundation to diffuse any hard edges between your cream highlighter and contour and your foundation. Then use your brush or sponge to give your cheeks a dash of color with your favorite shade of Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter. I like Lightning Dust and Fire Crystal. It’s soft and understated and will give you a super natural glow. You can add a cream eye shadow slightly darker than your skin on the eyelids if you prefer.
Finish with light, translucent layers
Apply your Killawatt color in an “E” shape going from the temple to from the high points of the cheeks, to the outer corner of eyes and finishing at the corner of the brows. You want to be sure and blend this in so it is soft and natural looking and not too harsh. This is a super-buildable formula so you can make it light or you can add as much color as you like, blending in between application.
